Longhi's

We had eaten at the Longhi's in Lahina (the original location) on previous visits; we loved it once and thought it was so-so once, so we thought a tiebreaker was in order (true, not the same location but it is the same restaurant). We enjoyed eating outside, next to the ocean (you are on a patio a bit away from the beach). At Longhi's, everything is ordered a la carte; your entree will not include vegetables or a salad unless you order it (one vegetable order is easily enough for two, however). Instead of the typical basket of bread and butter, Longhi's brought out some tasty pizza bread. They of course featured a number of local fresh fish specials; we each selected a fish special, one prepared with a lemon-caper white wine sauce, the other simply grilled. We also ordered a calamari appetizer, which on this visit never arrived. We did not mention this oversight, but halfway through our entree, our waiter (as he was refilling our wine glasses) did recognize his mistake and apologized. It turns out it was probably best we did not have the appetizer, since our entrees and the side vegetable (and the pizza bread) were more than enough. Our bill, including a $32 bottle of wine, was $98 for two (excluding tip); we did not have coffee or dessert. Longhi's was the most expensive dinner we had on Maui, but was not the one we enjoyed most.
