My husband and I never miss dining at the Hula Grill when we vacation in Maui. The food and drinks are excellent! We enjoy lunch and the casual atmosphere in the Barefoot dining area. You can take your shoes off and let the sand ran through your toes. There is a guitar player playing music everyday 3pm-5pm. Or for a more romantic meal, make dinner reservations and enjoy fine dining outdoors and watch a beautiful Maui sunset.

Great Atmosphere!

We went here because it was recommended by some of our friends- it turned out to be every bit as great as they sad. My advice would be to try the "casual" dining. The prices and atmosphere are better this way in my opinion! You can take your shoes off and play in the sand at your feet as you sit under a tiki hut. The food and drinks were fantastic! I am still searching for the recipe for their macnut coleslaw!!! YUM!

Hula Grill is located in the back of Whaler's Village in Kaanapali. Park in the structure and just make sure you get your ticket validated. You have a choice of the fine dining (seafood, steak, etc) or the barefoot bar (sandwiches, fish and chips, etc.). We went for the barefoot bar, I had the ahi sandwich and my wife had the fish and chips. We were both happy with our meal and the atmosphere definitely added to the experience. We were able to kick off our sandals and watch the sunset and listen to some great live, local music. There's usually a pretty good wait for both dining areas so my suggestion is to put your name down on the list then go shop or take a stroll down the beach for a little bit.

FYI the fine dining will take reservations if you call in, the barefoot bar will not.

Ocean front, open air dining with excellent drinks and good service. I think it is good for the price, but the menu selections are limited.

I’d heard about Hula Grill from several people prior to our honeymoon, likely due to the great atmosphere. We went for lunch, and it was nice and quiet, but I’d actually recommend going at night and sitting outside under a hut. I believe they have live music in the evening.

The food was pretty good. We had fish tacos, but as I mentioned in my Leilani’s review, Hula Grill’s fish tacos were good, but Leilani’s were the best I’ve ever had.

Hula Grill is right across from Leilanis, in Kaanaapali’s Whaler’s Village.
