Description: If you're looking for a nice place in the Oltrarno, that is bustling, full of life, and perfect for people-watching - then head over to Piazza Santo Spirito. In this large square, you're always sure to find something going on - whether it is a market, street performers, or just lots of locals gathering for an evening stroll.
Along the side of the square, there's a restaurant which offers a nice outdoor seating area, and plenty of cozy booths inside as well. Trattoria Borgo Antico may seem a bit tourist-centered at first, but after visiting there several times with a friend who lives in the neighborhood, meeting the manager, and trying the food - it gets my vote.
The prices are moderate, and portions large. Many people raved about the burgers here, but as vegetarian, I usually stuck to their generous salads and pasta. Every dish I tried was pretty tasty, and it was always just a convenient place to hang out, meet people, and be sure to fill up.
For dessert - head next door to Volume. A bar/gelateria/creperia always full of hip locals. Mingle and wait around as there will probably be a live performance later in the night.
