Village Pub (The)

We were looking for somewhere to get a quick/reasonable bit to eat since it was late and we didn't want an expensive steak dinner, so we choose the Village Pub. I had the lobster ravioli and my husband had the fish and chips. Both was OK, edible, but nothing to rave about. My husband also order a few drinks which were very weak. We decided to sit outdoors, which wasn't bad, but unfortunately the group of people sitting cattycorner to use where very loud and obnoxious. I couldn't decide whether it was very annoying or amusing listening to them discuss their sex lives. We would not go back there for dinner.

One of the restaurants the team dined at was the Village Pub. This restaurant is on the corner of Palm Canyon (the main drag) and Baristo. I have been there many times, and each time I order a burger selected from the long list of pub favorites.

This time I ordered a burger with bacon and cheese. I had a special request about the bacon - it had to be well done since I cannot stand bacon unless it is crisp. I was very happy with my burger. It was huge and cooked just the way I liked it, and the bacon was crisp as requested. My husband and another teammate ordered the Southern Chicken. My husband had no complaints, but the portions were a little smaller than might be expected. There was only one dinner that was not acceptable: one person ordered salmon and it was small, not cooked properly, and overpriced.

This restaurant is very large and has several floors. While we were along a back wall, there was plenty of activity going on around us. There is also some entertainment, but we were talking too much to really listen.

Since there is NOT a cover charge for the entertainment, I think the prices of the menu selections are a little higher than other places. Still, this is a great place for groups or for having fun.

One of my favorite places to dine is the Village Pub. Located at the southern end of Palm Canyon Drive, it is a casual place to go for appetizers or a complete meal. They have outdoor seating (with large heaters for those chilly nights) and live music every night. There are many restaurants in the downtown area. If you want to "window shop" for dinner, just park your car and stroll down the main avenue.

Steakhouses, pizza, Oriental, Mexican - you name it and we probably have it within easy walking distance. If you enjoy Thai food, do not miss going to Thai Kitchen on East Palm Canyon in Cathedral City - it's a bit off the beaten track but the food is superb and the service is always great. You will find every restaurant chain in the valley if you don't mind driving a bit - Outback Steakhouse, TGIF, Bakers Square, and our local chain of excellent Mexican food named Las Casuelas. Don't be afraid to ask a local where they like to eat, we will be glad to guide you to a great dining experience.
