Since there were so few customers, the management had decided to close off many locations. That might have been a good business decision for him but we were planning to eat in the outside dining area! In addition, even though we had reservations, we were led to a very undesirable location which was the first table from the kitchen and next to the coffee station. We voiced our displeasure but to no avail. So to be honest, my bias against this restaurant started immediately!
I do not think the waiter was attentive and the food was only ok. I had a seafood pasta dish and I would only rate it so-so. In fact the entrees were only a few dollars cheaper than the prior evening and the food didn''t even begin to compare to the prior evening''s meal. I was uncomfortable that our friends dined with us based on our past visits at this restaurant!
With the $30 savings from our discount card, the total bill for four (including no appetizer but including dessert, glass of wine and several beers, tax, and tip) was $110.

It seems that no matter what time of year, or what time of day you pass by, they have a fairly full patio deck. Perhaps it's because this is the best spot in town, and if you are a people-watcher, there is no better spot in Palm Springs. The Kaiser Grill is located smack in the middle of town and the patio hugs South Palm Canyon Drive; everybody strolls by here sooner or later.
However, it's not just the location that draws both tourists and locals to Kaiser Grill. The food also is a draw.
Kaiser Grill is considered a steak house, and without question, there are a lot of steaks on the menu; that is what most people come here for. However, on our last visit, I strayed off the meat list and tried their seared rare Ahi tuna. It was every bit as good as the steak here. Others had the prime rib, which is one of their specialities. One of my all time favorite dishes here is the meatloaf! It's better than mom makes it. With a combination of veal, pork, and beef, it's never dry and always moist.
The wait staff is friendly, and we have never had bad service here. This is Palm Springs so they also have an Early Bird Menu with some deals. If you are into Early Bird specials, give them a call for their times and offerings.
Kaiser Grill also owns the several other downtown restaurants, including The Deck and The Chophouse. I am not a big fan of The Deck (see other review), but the Kaiser Grill is one that they got right. So if you are looking for good hearty food, good service, and the best people-watching spot in town, then I suggest Kaiser Grill.
