Sahara Buffet

We ate at the $6.99 Sahara brunch buffet which was mediocre except for the apple cobbler, which was amazing. I thought the rest of the food was on the level of the Old Country Buffet, which is fine if you're not in Vegas, but hey, YOU'RE IN VEGAS!! There are the most amazing buffets that you can ever dream about here and you're trying to save $4 so that you can eat crap instead of a luxurious meal? Think about the logic there...that's just over 5 pulls of a slot machine. Spend the extra $4 to eat somewhere better.

The Sahara buffet was not as good as I expected. The food was dry and tasted like it had been out for a while. There was a large selection of food and desserts. The coffee was good and well needed by this point.

We are always looking for good food and a bargain. The breakfast buffet at the Sahara was exceptional and priced right. There were so many choices and everything was delicious.

Having eaten at many different buffets in Las Vegas, the Sahara Buffet seemed the best deal for the money. With buffets synonymous with Las Vegas, it's great to be able to find one with the large selection, acceptable quality, and exceptional price.

This large buffet seating 900 people is located just outside the Conga Room in the Sahara Hotel and Casino at the older/original end of the strip. It is quite a hike from the casino area. No reservations are necessary for the weekday brunch (served 7am - 3pm)or dinner (served 4pm - 10) buffets. Saturday and Sunday champagne buffets are also served.

The selection of foods offered is large. There are several carving stations for ham, prime rib, and turkey. The actual buffet line is laid out in broken sections rather than a long line, and is quite spacious. The beverages are in one area, vegetables and entrees in another, and a vast display of all types of salads and desserts. There were more selections than I'd previously seen on any buffet, many not your usual buffet cheap types. Most were rather bland, but filling. If only your stomach were larger. The quality of food was average, not fancy or gourmet, but hot foods hot and cold foods cold. It's a great place to take a family and not go broke. The kids or kid in you will love the soft serve ice cream dispenser with toppings.

You pay the set price, approx. $6.95 adults, less for children, and then can go back as many times and for as long as you wish. Each time you leave your table, staff clear your used plate and wipe down your table awaiting your return from the food displays. There is a sign on each table stating that you are welcome to return for more food as many times as you like, but they ask that you eat what you take. Sounds sensible.

We had not set out to eat at this buffet, but there were no lines when we exited the Conga Room at dinner time, so we gave it a try. There was little to no atmosphere, more like a big commissary - this is not fine dining, but all we wanted was good food. It was the best buffet and the least expensive we'd encountered in our five day, three buffet outing in Las Vegas. Ample, tasty, and affordable, can't beat that.

This was the cheapest buffet we found in any of the Las Vegas Casinos. The price was $6.95 but there were coupons to be found giving $1.00 off that price.

That's the best part.

The food selection was okay. They were carving roast beef, ham and turkey which is pretty standard fare for these buffets. The meats were nicely cooked and fresh.

The hot side items were limited in number and while fresh, were basically pretty bland. Same for the salad bar. Tossed salads and fixings with dressings were fine but the other types of salads such as pasta salad, potato salad and beets were pretty bland.

A nice dessert bar with soft serve ice cream finished up our meal.

Drinks were included in the basic price.

Shouldn't complain with the price that was charged but definitely preferred the Emperor's Buffet at the Imperial Palace.

Also, this buffet was quite a walk from the basic area of the casino and hotel. Plus the night we went, a group had reserved one area in the dining area that forced diners on a detour through the back work hallways to get to the buffet.
