Corral del Agua

Description

An uplifting inscription in this delightfully imtimate restaurant reads 'May God give you health and joy and a courtyard with water and a well'. It's in a typical 18th-century mansion restored to its former glory by the Marquess of Vega-Inclán in 1913. Apparently, the romantic writer Jose Zorrilla stayed here when it was a guest house and he used the garden as the setting for the first act of his most famous work, Don Juan Tenorio. The menu offers a wide variety of traditional regional dishes that have been handed down from generation to generation. Try the chicken stew with almonds, the rabbit stew, the oxtail stew or the garlic and crushed almond soup with sultanas. Fresh sea bass, bream and salmon are available as well.
