Latifs

A long-standing favourite with the people of Newcastle, Latif's is open 7 days a week and serves quality Indian food at great prices. Ask to order from the "Special menu" and you can get a stater, a main course and pilau rice or a nan bread for as little as £6.50 - the choice of mains is wide, and includes mild to very hot curries and vegetarian options all the way through. The restaurant is large and can cater well for large groups but it is possible for couples to get an intimate corner too. They serve Kingfisher and Cobra and a selection of wines specially chosen to go with spicy dishes, as well as the more usual alcoholic and soft drinks. The staff are, on the whole, friendly and helpful. Look out for the wonderful Malik and there may even be an appearance from the lovely Mr Syed Latif himself. This restaurant is close to the main train station and well placed for a pre-show meal for the Academy, the Opera House or the Metro Arena.
