Café Batia

Description

Established in 1941, this café boasts that it is Tel Aviv's oldest Jewish restaurant still in business. Indeed, there is a quality to the place, beyond the historic photos on the walls and the traditional Ashkenazi Jewish menu, an authenticity that only comes with time. The menu offers first courses like eggplant salad, pickled cabbage and stuffed latkes. Main courses include such delicacies as goulash, cholent, kishke, and gefilte fish. Wash it down with a fine espresso or a shot of arak.
