Kohinoor

Description

Israel's first Kosher Indian eatery, situated in the upmarket Crowne Plaza Hotel, has won the Chaine des Rotisseurs award. Its ornately tiled doors (from India) are a sign upon entering that you are in for an authentic and classy experience. For those who are either lactose intolerant or who keep Kosher, the restaurant offers something special as it has dairy free lassis, yoghurt style sauces and Indian cheeses. Most of the dishes are from the north of India and are cooked with the minimum amount of fat in a charcoal oven. The lunch buffet for NIS 50 (half price for under 10s) includes soup, nan, salad, chicken, mutton, egg curry, two vegetables, lentils, basmati rice, dessert and beverages. The a la carte menu contains a page of dishes for vegetarians. The all-Indian staff go out of their way to be polite and attentive. At 7pm every night there is a classical Indian dance performance. The restaurant also caters for barmitzvahs and weddings (Israel has a 40,000 strong Jewish, Indian community).
