El Rancho Grande (Mexican Restaurant)

El Rancho Grande (Mexican Restaurant)

El Rancho Grande is an authentic and very nice Mexican Restaurant and Cantina near the shops and galleries of Lincoln Avenue (see my journal entry).

The decor and furnishings are all done in colorful traditional Mexican colors in the bar and the spacious dining rooms. Out the front of the restaurant, El Rancho Grande has a patio that is great for people watching (and watching the time remaining on you parking meter).

El Rancho Grande is open for lunch and dinner, and they have a large menu. They have a large selection of Appetizers ($3-$7), and a huge selection of beef, chicken, pork, fish, and shrimp dinner plates/entree ($10-$19). They also have a large lunch menu ($3-$11). They have a full bar with beer and margarita happy hour weekdays from 3-7pm.

Our visit was for an early dinner. I got my Tex-Mex fix with a Beef Fajitas platter ($13). My family had Enchiladas, Tacos al Carbon, and other dishes, and everyone was pleased with the food and the service.

El Rancho Grande is a nice place for good Mexican food in an out of way location in South Beach, near the trendy shops, cafes, and galleries of Lincoln Road Mall.

El Rancho Grande is located in South Beach at 1626 Pennsylvania Avenue, near the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and Lincoln Road. To get there from Miami Beach, take Collins Avenue south to Lincoln Avenue, turn right, then turn left on Pennsylvania Avenue, and look for parking, because the restaurant is very close on the right. If you don't care to visit, they will deliver...their phone number is 305-673-0480.

This pleasant Mexican eatery is located in the Lincoln Road mall, not too far from the popular bar Score. It's a great choice for couples who want a charming place to eat and talk without too much background noise, or for those who simply need a break from the dazzling eye candy that is prevalent in other gay-friendly South Beach joints. The burritos aren't particularly unique or revolutionary, but all of the food is well made and filling. Service is friendly and efficient, though we may have been fortunate to be one of the few couples in the place. The next night the place was teeming with customers.
