Pordylos

After reading good reviews online, my girlfriend and I decided to pay Pordylos a visit. We went on a Sunday night to be greeted at the doorway with an employee with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth. The restaurant was very quiet, we were 1 of 2 tables.

I'd like to stress that our main courses were amazing but everything else was so so disappointing. Our waitress was grumpy, rude and inattentive. Only venturing to our table to take our order and deliver the food. We got a dessert that was clearly bought in and extremely overcooked. It took the waitress 20 minutes to come back to our table to user us out at 10 with the bill. After hearing our disappointment with the dessert she brought free "shots" and proceeded to still try and charge us for the dessert.

Awful experience! Good food is simply not enough, you need to follow up with service. The night before we went to Cafe Sol, which was brilliant 10/10. Pordylos 1/10.

Recommended by a friend from Kilkenny, this restaurant was on a par with our dining experiences in Dublin. And we were apparently extremely fortunate to book on a table a few hours in advance on Friday night

The food is modern ‘world food’. My boyfriend had a spicy South American Stew, and I had a Thai Curry. My only criticism is that the food appeared to be ‘dumbed down’ to local tastes. My sushi starter had cooked fish and crystallised ginger, and my Thai Curry was extremely mild. My boyfriend’s stew was quite spicy though.
