Saba

We were celebrating a friend’s birthday and decided to go to Saba. This is a long, narrow restaurant, but even though we reserved a table for 20, they decided to place us near the kitchen in the back of the place. This was fine, but it evidently left little room for the staff to maneuver in and out of the kitchen, presumably something that has happened before).

Shortly after we arrived, my girlfriend and I were telling everyone hello when one of the staff bumped into my girlfriend and informed her that she was not standing in a very good spot and that she needed to sit down. The guy said it in such a rude manner, the couple behind our table grabbed her arm to get her attention and told her, "that was the rudest thing I've ever seen!"

A couple of minutes later, two more friends showed up and were also telling everybody hello, when the same guy comes by with a tray of glasses. He attempts to rush past my friend (without ever so much as a warning) and ended up colliding and dropping the tray, glasses crashing to the ground. The guy then proceeds to yell at my friends that they were told to sit down, and they needed to do so and get out of the way. Everyone in the place had stopped what they were doing and stared in amazement at the scene. My friend attempted to explain that they just arrived, but that didn't stop the tirade. I informed him that he was being extremely rude. His response was, "if you don't like it, leave".

The hostess came over to apologize, at which point she informed us that the guy was the owner of Saba. The owner! Unbelievable that the owner of an establishment would act in such a way. Its too bad, too. Everyone else at the place was extremely pleasant and helpful. The owner could learn something by watching how his employees treat people with some courtesy.

Needless to say, I'll never step foot in the restaurant again, and I would advise against anyone else ever doing so as well.
