Victor's Café was the Cuban restaurant that we picked for dining. Some of the girls didn't want to eat there (not too adventurous) but we overruled them and went anyway. It was a very cheery and bright restaurant. They also had a prix-fixe menu for dinner, which one of my friends got. We started out ordering drinks. I got a mojito, which was good, but I have had better ones. A couple people ordered metropolitans, but when they came out they looked and tasted like whiskey, so we had to send them back and tell them how to make them. Then they brought bread to our table, which was sort of crispy, not too bad, but not soft and fresh as I am used to eating. I ordered the salmon which was very good. Most of the others ordered the Ropa Vieja, which is a shredded skirt steak, which looked like it was in a type of barbeque sauce. It was one of the Cuban specialties and everyone said it was very good. They also served rice and black beans with all the meals and the beans were very good (I usually don't care for beans too much). Then for dessert we ordered flan, chocolate cake, rice pudding, and a guave cobbler. The cobbler looked very good, but I did not taste it, but everyone said it was good. There was a problem with the dessert order and they brought us churros which we did not order instead of flan and then they charged us for an extra dessert which should have been included in with the prix-fixe. These were only minor problems and otherwise the service was good and the food was very good. Even the ones who did not want to go there liked it and said they would recommend Victor's.

This tranquil, romantic spot is elegantly decorated in muted tones. Soft music fills the air. The dishes were interestingly and dramatically presented.
This was some of the best food I've ever had. Oxtail with mashed plantains and rice with a dizzying selection of wines to choose from.
This is a perfect place for after-theater dining. Not too far off Broadway.
