Ecuadorian Cuisine Gone Horribly Gringo

So this is one of the most upscale places that puts on shows to go with dinner. Tried the empanada appetizer - was swimming in oil with almost no filling. The soup was the typical thick soup of ecuador - this version was a glob of potato and cheese with no flavor - nothing like the stuff on the streets. The Seco de chivo (goat stew) was flavorsome but almost sweet. I asked for a hot sauce and was served ketchup. This is ecuador cuisine sucking up to gringo tastes (whereas gringos have learned to eat and enjoy spicier food) - making a real hash of their own cuise. Settings and music was good - but for a $35 dollar meal in equador they needed to be superlative - instead they perverted the $2 streetfood. Avoid at all costs.
