Gallery Bistro

Description

Situated in the foyer of Manchester's flagship modern art gallery, this tiny little restaurant (which incidentally is mentioned in the Egon Ronay and Les Routiers guides) aims to provide classic British food and atmosphere for ladies who lunch, business people and professionals.

The menu is limited, but comes in generous portions at reasonable prices. Luncheon mains include traditional Welsh rarebit at around £4.50 while the daily blackboard specials include such options as roast loin of pork with apricot and bacon sauce as a main course. There is also a good selection of home-made cakes e.g. date and lemon from £1. The bistro offers an imaginative range of hot and cold drinks including speciality teas and coffees, Boddingtons bitter and wines by the glass or bottle.
