Description
As its name suggests, Cerca del Mar (Spanish for Close to the Sea) is on the edge of Caletilla Beach. The restaurant offers a good meal under the shade of a typical palapa (a parasol made of woven palm leaves.)
For starters, the prawn cocktail and the vuelve a la vida, a reinvigorating dish that consists of shellfish served in a spicy tomato sauce, are absolutely perfect. For dinner, try the house speciality, mariscos gratinados, shellfish again but this time with a grated cheese topping, which used to be served up in huge clam shells.
The staff offer friendly and efficient service.
