Description
Though the sign outside screams 'Indian Food' the proprietors of Shalimar are Pakistani and the food is halal (prepared in accordance with Islamic law). Although air-conditioned, the restaurant is very basic with fluorescent lighting, plastic tablecloths and unadorned white walls. The menu in English offers a range of tasty curries from India and Pakistan. The tandoori chicken is succulent, and the eggplant daal tasty and energetically spiced. Shalimar appeals to budget-conscious tourists and expats. Muslims do not drink alchohol so soft drinks, lassis and water will quench your thirst.
