Palffy Palac is located on the first floor of an old music school. The first time we came here my stomach sank as I realized that I was so underdressed. The saving grace was that the date and time of our appointment were midweek and early respectively. A tie is not required but a jacket and smart collared shirt are recommended. What a great place this is all year round but especially in the summer. It has a large lounge, a small lounge and an outside terrace. Live piano often accompanies the late diners. Celebrities mix with the people, the atmosphere is thick with discussion and conversation punctuated by a raised fork and the clink of glasses. We have returned several times.
The Menu
With starters like "Marinated shrimps in cognac served with tropical fruit" and "Duck liver Foie Gras served with baked puff pastry and caramelized oranges" you know the chef is going to blow your mind. Main courses like "French baby chicken filled with chestnut stuffing served with port wine sauce" or "Grilled Sea Bass served with caviar sauce" will leave you struggling to eat a dessert although they are tempting. Greatt setting for a couple on a special night out. I cannot recommend this place highly enough outside on the terrace on a hazy summer's night. Perfect.
