Bohemia Bagel

I love this place. I have logged in many, many hours at it, and this is coming from someone who when, at home, doesn't even eat bagels or go to coffee shops.

Bohemia Bagel is kind of like a homing center for Expats. It has it all-cheap phone calls to home, Internet access, bagels, soup, and coffee. It also has a message board for travelers and you can pick up the English version of the "All Around Town" paper. If you want to place an ad to teach English, teach music, or even teach the Czechs how to understand rap lyrics (I swear to God I saw this on the board an am not making it up) you can do so. They also don't mind if you sit there for hours talking to your friends or writing in your journal. (A-hem.) Good place to mingle.

Food-wise, I really liked their tomato basil soup. I also enjoyed their apple and peanut bagels. And chocolate chip cookies...And mochacinos...And chocolate chip muffins...It's all reasonably priced, too.

Note: The guy turns on the clock as soon as you tell them you want to get on the Internet. Run to the chair straight away so that you're not getting charged for time you didn't use.

Bohemia Bagel is a great place. There are two locations, both of which offer exactly the same things, from the food to the interior design. One is in the Mala Strana, on Ujezd, and the other is in the Stare Mesto (Old Town) on Masna. It was opened by an American, as far as I remember, and this is definitely the place in Prague to go for a good bagel, coffee, or dessert.

They have a number of types of bagels that can be purchased individually at fairly cheap prices. In addition, there are a number of bagel sandwiches, most of which are truly delicious. I recommend that everyone that finds themselves in Prague immediately go to Bohemia Bagel and get themselves a Triple-Decker Turkey Club sandwich. This is, in my opinion, the best thing on their menu.

They offer bottomless cups of coffee and soda, and the coffee is a great option if you just want a regular cup of decent coffee, something I often couldn't find while in Prague.

The drawback, of course, is that it's a little more expensive than most places in Prague. If you get a soda or coffee (about 2 USD), a bagel sandwich, and a cookie, you'll be spending a little over 10 USD. Nevertheless, the price is worth it.

Another advantage of Bohemia Bagel is that it's equipped (at both locations) with computers hooked up to broadband internet. The prices are slightly higher than other internet cafes in Prague, but not by much (15 minutes for about 1 USD).

For more information, see their website.

Overall, a great place to have a quick and good lunch. The one in the Old Town even features a small outdoor area where you can eat outside, as well as separate smoking and non-smoking areas. They do, however, have a tendency to play strange techno remixes of five year-old songs.

With a name like Bohemian Bagel, you might be surprised to hear it's a chain restaurant which specializes in inexpensive breakfasts and lunches. They have 10 types of soup and six types of desserts and great coffees, as well as a broad choice of bagel sandwiches. I did get a bagel sandwich---with egg and bacon--and it was excellent.

There are two Bohemian Bagels Restaurants in Prague. The newer store has double the seating capacity and has 10 internet terminals for use at the minimal fee of only $1.75 per hour. We went to the older one across the river towards the castle (in Ujedz). It was small, but had a really nice ambiance. There were a few tables and chairs for outside seating, as well as the small inside restaurant area and bar.

Another big advantage here is that for a small extra fee on your drinks, you can get a bottomless glass of soda or cup of coffee! That may not seem too special, unless you're a spoiled American like myself! After walking for hours, the refills are really nice to have!

For travelers on a budget this place is great for sustaining your appetite and interest in meeting other travelers. A lot of Americans find there way here, probably because the food is tasty, cheap, and the people all speak English very well. The atmosphere is totally relaxed and young - mostly frequented by transient folk getting their daytime nourishment while touring the city.

If you're travelling alone I definitely recommend this place as a good spot to find some people to head to the next destination with.

Bohemia Bagel was an absolutely wonderful place. They serve Amercian style food- particularly bagel sandwiches. It's very good and cheap. You can sit or take it out and the atmoshpere is nicer than McDonalds.
