I Miss the Pelican!!

I spent many mornings having grits & gravy and fried green tomatoes at the Pelican Diner, to start my days at the beach. I used to park myself in front of the Tampico Hotel, get my iced tea and fried grouper sandwiches down the beach at an open beach bar, and basically fry myself on the Gulf beach. Now, I am going back aways, I turned 50 this year, and I am remembering back when I was between 16 and 21...I lived with my Grandad on Madiera Beach, and I miss those days. The Pelican Diner was an iconic symbol of all things southern and Floridian. Sad that things have changed so much. They paved paradise...you know the rest.
