We enterd the restraurnat by going down a “gangway” to the rear of a building off Broad Street (#6) just north of the Parish Church of St. Michael with St Paul at Green Street. We entered the Moon and Six Pence. (see menu)
The restaurant had a great hidden courtyard garden, but since it was raining, we could not take advantage. The place was packed with a busy lunch crowd of locals. We both had the “soup of the moment,” a hearty wonderful yellow green soup with a hint of and kick of spices. It had a texture you could feel on the palate. Susan had a very rich pate’ that was a surprise of flavors needing bread to reduce its richness. Then she had smoked chicken and parma ham roulade with a spicy apple and dried fruit compote. (about $7.75) Stef’s pan fried salmon with an oriental chilli and ginger dressing and risotto with roasted vegetables was very glorious. (complete meal, $40 with a tip)
