This place has conveyor belt sushi with branches around London and, thankfully, in Brighton.
It is said that the sudden freshness of Japanese cuisine captures attention like a whisper in the midst of shouts. Simplicity, quality, and artistry can be found at Moshi Moshi's Brighton location.
Moshi Moshi itself is a free-standing glass-and-metal structure sitting in an elegant Regency Square just off the Lanes. Inside, it has an all-black, slick design that marks modern Asian design. The whole combination is a surprisingly warm and relaxing environment. The restaurant is divided into bar-style seating around the preparation area and cosy tables flanking the windows into the square. Snaking its way round the restaurant is a conveyor belt laden with sushi.
Sushi is the main reason punters flock here - so fresh you can watch it being prepared before your eyes. You have a choice of ordering sushi sets that come served on traditional wooden blocks (from £7 to £14) or picking what you want from the conveyor. Picking from the conveyor is an experience in itself. You grab what you want, and prices denoted by the colour or pattern of the dishes you choose (a good way to keep track of finances). Prices range from £1.20 to £3 per dish. At the end, the waitress comes by and totals up your order. Fruit salad, dessert dumplings, and chocolate pud slide by on the conveyor as well.
Sushi being excellent, you might not want to touch anything else, which would be a shame. Moshi Moshi has great tempura, goyza dumplings, and variable bento boxes.
If you're still scared and new to sushi, the staff is extremely helpful and you certainly won't be on your own.
