Description
Caribbean restaurants are sadly few and far between in Birmingham, and Stirchley is not renowned for a plethora of exciting eateries, but a trip out to Mangos will certainly repay your petrol money/taxi fare. It is a cosy place (for which read small), and little apart from the odd picture of sun-kissed islands on the walls gives any clue that the cuisine will be Caribbean. However, salt fish and ackee is available as either a starter or main course, and other typically West Indian dishes include pumpkin soup, peppered beef, spicy chicken in coconut gravy, and curried mutton. The restaurant is unlicensed so bring your own booze. Corkage is £1.50 a bottle, though.
