After you have been seated in an enormous plastic hand (the seats are just one of the many unique things about Tangerine), your eyes start to wander. From the grape, lemon, lime, and tangerine walls to the Buddha figure sitting over the dining area, you realize that you’ve hit a goldmine in the middle of the city.
As you sip your deliciously flavored ice tea and nosh on French bread with white bean dip, you think to yourself, 'I can't believe I'm in St. Louis.'
When your smiling waiter returns to take your order, you’re stumped. With everything from Mexican to Thai (and at such reasonable prices), you have a hard time deciding. You look over the menu. You order the Chex Mix as an appetizer and then pour yourself a glass of water out of one of their stylish caraffes.
Your friend orders a Thai noodle dish with Peanut Sauce. She is informed that all of the meat and vegetarian dishes are cooked completely separately. (Until recently, Tangerine was strictly a vegetarian restaurant.) After a great deal of deliberation, you decide upon the basil, tomato and mozzarella pizza.
Taking a trip to the restroom, you notice something very unique: chalkboard walls & thick pieces of chalk. They actually encourage their guests to write on the walls! When you get back to your table, your friends are watching Mary Poppins on the retro TV above the dining area. When dinner comes, it far exceeds your expectations. No reservations. Great decor. Wonderful food. Good service. And cheap. This could be the ideal hang-out.
