Buddy’s is a great place for a casual lunch with the family that does not involve fast food.
One of my favorite items is the chop salad, with avocado, cheese, turkey, ham, tomato, and well, I just can’t remember what else, the reason being that Buddy’s will let you substitute salad toppings. For example, I’m allergic to milk, so I sub cucumbers and black olives in for the cheese. This is the perfect little salad for a lazy Sunday in Tucson.
Another big hit, especially for the little ones, is the make-your-own PP&J sandwich. It comes with two slices of white bread, peanut butter, a cute little jar of strawberry jam and fruit, or french fries. The real magic here is the make your own bit. Like you can make it all peanut butter, which is fine! Like jelly between the peanut butter and balking at anything else - this meal is balk-free. You can even do 4/5 jelly and 1/5 peanut butter if your heart desires, making this the perfect meal for the pickiest of eaters.
The other big draw here is the burgers, and I mean big, but unlike many big burgers, they don’t lack quality. And the fries that come with it are some of the best I’ve had.
So when in Tucson with kids, go to Buddy’s. It’s a match made in heaven.
