Friday's

Okay, so you're probably not looking for American food if you're just visiting Taipei, but for those of us who live there, it's nice to eat out once in a while! The Shi-men Friday's is similar to all the other Friday's worldwide—and that's why we enjoyed eating there! We also liked going there because it's on the east side of Taipei and conveniently located to the Hsimen MRT station—walk out of exit 6, go straight for a block or so, and it'll be there on your left (look for the red and white awning).

Unfortunately, this Friday's is also very popular with local teens and young adults—it fills up fast on weekend nights. They don't take reservations, so be ready to wait up to an hour for your table. Fortunately, they will take down your cell phone number and call you when your table is ready, so you can go out and browse the night market while you wait!

If you absolutely can't get into this Friday's (it's happened to me before), take a taxi over to the one at Chung Hsiao East Road No. 2, Lane 49 Sec 41st & 2nd FL—it was mostly empty on a night when the Hsimen one was full, but it's not that far away.
