Chihshang, a district in Taitung County in Taiwan's south-east, is famed for the quality of its rice. At Chihshang Fan Bao, diners are able to sample inexpensive traditional Taiwanese dishes featuring rice grown in that part of the island. The Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice is especially good. It is obvious from the number of tables--just three--and the stream of customers collecting meals, that deliveries and take-aways are the backbone of Fan Bao's business. This means that those who eat there and linger a while are treated all the better by the friendly proprietor.
