Description
Each year, about 100,000 tourists and locals gather in the Puerto Plata´s Malecon to enjoy this week-long event organized by the Dominican Tourist Board. The performances of various popular merengue bands are an invitation impossible to reject to dance to the contagious Dominican rhythm. Typical arts and craft exhibitions, folk dances and parachuting demonstrations are also part of this joyful festival that culminates with an impressive fireworks show. There is no entrance fee, and a maximum security and order is guaranteed by the local police department.
