Perfect place for a perfect Island. I had an excellent experience at Morgans Mango. Great food, great drinks, great service. I would love to come back soon!

Great 1/2 Price Margarita's on Thursday Night

We decided to go to Morgan's Mango on Thursday night for their 1/2 price margarita's. They were delicious! I had the Frozen Mango, Passion Fruit and Strawberry Margarita's. All excellent. We found the food prices to be higher than what listed on line so be careful. Also, my Mahi Mahi salad was tiny this year compared to our visit in July, 2007 and of course higher prices this year. Our party of 5 all liked our food but we thought the prices were somewhat too steep for the portion size. My son's Cheeseburger in Paradise was huge and very good so I would order that instead of the small salad next time.

It's a typical island restaurant, open air with ceiling fans. The night we ate there it was raining and some of the chairs and tables were wet. We both had a grilled chicken salad and it was very good. Good portion size and good bread to go along with it. Prices ranged from $10 to $30 on menu with lots of variety.

This was one of only two restaraunts in which I had the pleasure of dining. There is live music on Tuesdays and Thursdays of each week. The menu has a variey of Caribbean foods, with the location from which each item is imported. The food is not excellent, but good, and the mixed drinks are outstanding. It is an open-air restaurant, which just makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is very nice for an island/Caribbean restaurant. I would definitely recommend dining at Morgan's Mango.

On our second night on St. John, we were exploring Mongoose Junction and decided to eat at Morgan’s Mango. Our first choice was the Sun Dog Cafe, but that place is only open for lunch - bummer. Morgan’s Mango is on the second floor of Mongoose Junction, up the stairs from its sidewalk sign. Morgan’s is a fine-dining establishment with linen tablecloths and napkins. It has a green, pink, and white décor, and except for the roof, is completely open to the tropical breezes. There were paintings from a local artist on the walls that were for sale.

The food was expensive, but most food in St. John was. I had a grilled seafood kabob with shrimp, tuna, and veggies with a side of beans and rice, and my husband had the grilled salmon, also with beans and rice. Both were delicious, but it was so much food, we couldn’t eat all of our dinner. For drinks we each had a tropical smoothie (nonalcoholic), which was refreshing. Because of a mix-up in the kitchen, our dinner was delayed, so we were each comped a dessert. I had a fabulous Key Lime pie slice but was unable to finish it due to the large dinner. My husband had the crème brulee, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Morgan’s Mango was enjoyable, delicious, and expensive. We’re glad we tried it, but it wasn't our favorite. It’s just not our kind of restaurant (see the review of Woody’s).

Fun Fact - I read in Frommer’s Virgin Islands guidebook that Harrison Ford was turned away from this restaurant one night. I don’t know the details, but it made the place a local legend. And to think that we got in and comped dessert!
