Coconuts

The only restaurant located right in the Island Seas Resort. Any others would be at least an 8-dollar taxi ride away.

The menu is limited and overpriced. The service is slow, and the service station where the waitresses get drinks and condiments is in the open in the restaurant, detracting from the atmosphere. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is convenience. It would not be feasible or affordable to eat all meals here. While waiting for a shuttle I saw two tour bus loads of people come into the resort with bags of groceries from the local Winn-Dixie grocery store. I found using my kitchen faster and tastier than using Coconuts for breakfast and lunch.

Coconuts is the largest open-air tiki-hut restaurant on the island. It is situated poolside in the courtyard of Island Seas Resort. We tried the native rice and chicken dish served as nuggets. We found them delicious and the atmosphere here was extremely relaxing and comfortable. We also tried the key lime pie, which was excellent.

Coconuts is not for fine dining, but was great for a lunch or breakfast. The help made great cocktails available in the pool, which was neat.

The food was horrible and prices expensive. My wife would only eat fries. The restaurant was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The bar was good though.

We ate at Coconuts several times. It was outside under a hut, next to the pool area. When the rain came, the staff would just lower clear screens to keep from getting wet. The menu is limited, but you can always find something. The balls of fire are very good. So are there hamburgers. They have specials every night, usually fish and pasta specials. Keep in mind that the Bahamians have a very relaxed style. Service is slow. If you can keep this in mind, your dining experience will be more enjoyable.
