Manny's combines casual elegance with a wait staff that will happily joke around with your three-year old (although you do not see too many of those around here.). A couple on a first date would feel just as comfortable as the CEOs who will be sitting next to them, and service is impeccable.
While there is a wide variety of salads and starters, two stand out. First, the delicious Caesar salad is easily big enough for two to share, although ask for the anchovies on the side, as the restaurant is not shy about filling your plate. For those who want a potato side, I recommend the hash browns, with or without onions. The serving is enough for four.
While the restaurant does both beef and seafood (In fact, the waiter will bring a live lobster to your table for your "meet and eat."), stick with the steak. In particular, the New York Strip is excellent, with the meat cooked perfectly. Please note that, with all dishes, you will be bringing something home. Most beef dishes are in the $20-30 range.
But save room for dessert! The restaurant offers several different choices, almost all of which are under $10. You cannot go wrong with the monster-sized cheesecake, which could easily feed two hungry lumberjacks. Are you a chocoholic? Order the brownie sundae, and bring a big spoon.
While your check will easily exceed $100 for two people (significantly more if you drink from the excellent wine list), you will not go home hungry.
