Hornblower's Barge and Grill

If you opt for a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or the Cleveland Science Museum, this unique eatery just to the east might be the perfect place to catch lunch or dinner. Originally the stern of a package freighter, since 1992 Hornblower’s has been a very popular floating seafood restaurant overlooking Lake Erie. It has a well-stocked menu—especially seafood (I loved the chargrilled yellow fin tuna with mango salsa and a side of rice pilaf) but other entrees, as well. If I hadn’t been filled already, the Chocolate Volcano would have been very tempting for dessert. For light appetites, try the walleye sandwich or the Salmon Caesar Salad. And I found the prices to be surprisingly affordable!

In addition to the great food, the ambiance and views—of the lake on one side and of Cleveland’s skyline on the other—are superb. On Sundays there is a brunch buffet from 11am until 1:30pm. In good weather, enjoy your cocktails or dinner on the upper deck.

Tip: You might want to check out the S.S. Cod, a submarine museum, right next door.
