Description: When we were in Hamburg for a couple of day a person has to eat. We always like to go out for dinner when we are in a foreign country but it’s simply something we don’t do when we are at home. It always feels like we have seen it all so it’s more fun to go out of dinner when we are on holiday. We came across this restaurant A Table. We liked the name and the menu so we decided to go inside.
We liked the name of the restaurant but also the building and the decorating looked inviting. The restaurant has a good location and makes it perfect to visit after a shopping spree of after some cultural activities since it’s located in the centre of the town. It didn’t had a terrace outside but the inside what we could see looked cosy enough and from the outside you could see it was a fish restaurant and I was in the mood for some fish.
It’s not a large restaurant and thinks that around 75 people can enjoy food here. The inside of the building looks very cosy with warm colours and with the use of wood. The space was quite large and the spaces between the tables was quite big so enough privacy when you are eating. I don’t mind people sitting close to me but it does always make me a big uncomfortable. I feel like people are listening into our conversation. The interior and nice and not overdone and it’s not a restaurant were you need to get dress up for.
It’s mostly fish dishes they have here but I always spotted a few non fish dishes on the menu. It depends on my mood if I’m in the mood for fish and normally I just want something easy and ‘normal’ but this time I was looking forward to fish. We had a shrimp cocktail which was delicious and really tasteful! As a main meal I had crab casserole which was also delicious and came with a perfectly white sauce. It really finished off the fish and together it was a party in my mouth! My husband had a blackened redfish which looked really good but I was sticking to my meal. He said it was really nice so I was glad we both had some delicious food.
The price of the dishes were not bad but it’s not a cheap restaurant either. You could tell from the outside and the dishes they offered. Fish is normally not cheap anyway. I think we spent around 80 euro’s here with both two drinks so it’s not bad in anyway and you have to consider that you are in a large city so finding a cheap restaurant is always difficult.
There are toilets in the restaurant but I don’t think they are accessible for disabled people because they were a bit small. The toilets did look clean and well taken care off which is always very important to me because I hate a dirty toilets and I think it always shows what kind of restaurant it is. When they have dirty toilets how clean will the rest of the restaurant be? It always says a lot about the people working there.
The staff was really attentive and polite from the first moment we walked in. We didn’t had any reservations but were lucky they still had a table for us. The service was quick and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. I always find this important and there is nothing worse then having to wait long for your food or that it’s really difficult to get the attention of a waiter. Luckily we didn’t had any problems at this restaurant.
I don’t know if the restaurant is really accessible for disabled people because you had to go down a few steps and I don’t think the toilet is that good accessible. So I wouldn’t really say it’s that good accessible. It’s advisable to check the restaurant and website or even better to ring or email the people at the restaurant to find out.
Worth the visit?
You need to be in the mood for fish otherwise you can better skip this restaurant! It’s a lovely, good atmosphere and good food so for that I would recommend the restaurant. It’s cosy but not too cosy and you can enjoy your meal without people sitting right next to you. I give this restaurant four stars!
