Since the Donati family gave up the restaurant after running it for a number of years, the establishment has been run by the same people that run the Kunsthalle.
Despite the change, the food is as good as ever because the chef decided to stay. Chez Donati is not cheap but it is the best place to enjoy Italian food in Basel and the interior is lush, filled to the brim with art and antiques and worth a visit in itself.
