Description
Many Polish restaurants and bars use the prefix 'pod' (meaning 'under') in their names. In this case, the name means 'Under the Pear'; in many cases, if you look above the door you will find the object that the restaurant is 'under', e.g. a rose, a stag, a coat of arms, a dragon and so on. This was a common way of giving an address in the Middle Ages.
