Bistro (Le)

Description

Known to a small circle of locals and ex-pats (especially the French community), this hidden gem serves up delicious continental fare at reasonable prices. The small dining area would be cosy, were it not for the bright lights and bad music. Fortunately, the staff will lower both on request. The shameless proliferation of mirrors, however, is inescapable.

The soups and salads are uncomplicated but good, especially the garlicky seafood salad. The steaks are hit-and-miss, while the veal dishes are always spot-on. The spicy sausage in gravy with rosti (similar to potato hash browns) comes highly recommended. Entrees average at around EGP 25. Alcohol is served here.
