Description
Tokio is a deservedly popular Japanese restaurant that draws a mixed group of customers. Most of Warsaw's Japanese ex-pats eat here, which is encouraging.
The decor is fairly simple and uncluttered, featuring basic tables and chairs. There is also a seperate tatami room (book ahead) if you would like to experience authentic Japanese seating arrangements. There are plenty of other Japanese touches here and there and the sushi bar is like a small theatre. This place could easily be in Tokyo.
The food here is of excellent quality. Fresh fish is flown in once a week. The sushi has the expected tangy taste and the noodle soups are authentic. Unfortunately the Japanese chef absolutely refuses to prepare vegetable tempura, common all over Japan (though fish varieties are available). This unexplicable anomaly is the only negative about Tokio. Japanese beer and sake are served here as well as other mixed drinks, Polish beer and wine.
