Aventino restaurant is a leading exponent of classic French cuisine in Caracas. It was opened more than 30 years ago and has a faithful following with diners who love traditional French food.
Though some attempts have been made to update the menu, the options remain traditional. One outstanding dish is Caneton a la presse, created in 1892 and served here since 1967. Following a tradition started in Paris, each guest who orders it receives a diploma, the order recorded in the golden book by its respective number, now approaching 46,000. Each meal has an average price of $150 per couple, without wine. Formal dress is required, though no tie is necessary.
