The Pen's minimalist interior works well, with Art Deco fittings and oil lamps at night adding to the alluring atmosphere. The drinks selection is good and upstairs there is a restaurant, offering various modern British and Mediterranean dishes at about £8 each. However, the small bar can get seriously busy - what else would you expect from somewhere called The Pen? Go for the lively atmosphere and the mixed clientele of all ages, occupations and personalities. Live jazz is performed every Sunday whilst the rest of the time music is mainly modern soul and R&B.
