In our travels in Downtown Disney, we noticed this restaurant in the style of an Irish pub Called Cooke's of Dublin that specialized in Fish and Chips and other Irish specialties. Danielle doesn't like seafood that much but when she saw that chicken was on the menu, she was game for lunch there.
I love fish and chips, but I rarely eat it, so this was a special treat for me. Danielle and I went inside and we went up to the counter to place our order. There was a woman in front of us who had placed a big order and was being a pain in the butt, so we had to wait a little bit and rolled our eyes at each other as if to say, "Geez! Wish she would hurry up and sit down!" Finally we got to order and I got the fish and chips while Danielle ordered the Grilled Chicken Wrap. After paying about $14 each for our meals that including our drink, we were given cups to get our drinks from the self-service fountain and a number 58. Danielle was joking about wanting #52 in honor of the Blond Viking Adonis Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, but we got #58. "Jack Lambert or Jonathan Papelbon", I joked. "One of the best linebackers in football and a great reliever in baseball." Danielle and I then sat down at a window seat and waited for our food.
Our food came relatively quickly considering we had the woman with the big order ahead of us who probably wanted everything without onions or something, and it was fresh and hot. Danielle's wrap was pretty good sized and came with fries. She only finished half of her wrap and brought the other half back to the hotel for Pam to have since she was spending the time off in our room resting. My fish and chips was a decent helping of one piece of fish and french fries. I ate everything with a healthy amount of tartar sauce and was a happy camper.
While Danielle and I were eating, a man in a Red Sox shirt looked in the window to see what the food looked like and saw my fish and chips and us talking. He came inside and asked me if the food was good, and Danielle and I told him it was very good. I told him I liked his Red Sox shirt and then showed him my Yuck the Fankees shirt. He got a good chuckle out of it and i asked where he was from and he said he was from Bangor, Maine, and I told him I grew up in Rhode Island. It was a short and sweet conversation and the guy went back to his wife and looking for a place to eat.
Cooke's of Dublin is located in the center of Downtown Disney World and also has a little shop next door selling things Irish. The food is great and the people are nice and service is quick. If you are looking for a good lunch or dinner in Downtown Disney with a taste of Ireland, this is the place to go. Full and happy and doggy bag in hand, Danielle and I made our way back to the buses and back to Coronado Resorts.
