Description: Times Square is full of tourists and with that comes expensive tourist restaurants. It is hard to find somewhere tasty, and relatively cheap in this area.
Tucked away down 47th Street, Evergreen Diner is a secret gem! Our hotel (the Doubletree) was right near by and this diner was mentioned in a couple of online reviews. We ended up eating here every morning of our stay and we loved it. The diner itself is very American in style. The staff are extremely friendly, you are seated and provided with a huge mug of coffee in no time at all, and after ordering food it arrives very promptly. There's tons of breakfast options, anything you can think of and they'll do it, and the food is always tasty and cooked the way you want it. The portions are also incredibly huge. We ate the granola, yogurt and fruit and it was massive The pancakes will fill you for the rest of the day, and even the poached eggs and toast I ate most of the time were tasty and filling.
Coffee refills are provided, and despite the quick service you are told not to rush from your table. Breakfast would come to under $10 per person, bargain!
I loved sitting in here and watching New Yorkers come in for breakfast to go or sit at the bar area watching the TV, or overhear people talk about last night's game. For somewhere so close to Times Square, this is the perfect place to go when you want to avoid a tourist trap or expensive hotel breakfasts.
