Description: Whilst at our conference in Victoria, we obviously had to find places to eat. When we were staying in the local hostel we wandered past this downtown eatery during the day and jumped in to have some lunch. The thing we had noticed about Victoria was that there was plenty of Asian influenced food everywhere and The Mint was not exception. We were drawn in with the promise of curry boxes and found ourselves in a relatively small cafe area just off the street. My friend was particularly impressed with the amount vegetarian food available, as on visits to North America in the past she has often struggled to find places to eat.
The staff were very friendly and didn't rush us in making our choice, and we just ordered at the counter and they went ahead and made everything up for us. They brought it all over to our window bar-style table and we tucked in whilst watching the world go by. We were so impressed with lunch that we decided to go back for dinner later on that day.
For dinner we actually went down a load of stairs to the basement restaurant. Think bare brick walls, tile floors and dark wood tables, chairs and bar. We were sat at a nice table away from the other people in the restaurant and given plenty of time to choose (which was a good thing because I really couldn't make up my mind, everything looked so nice). There was plenty to choose from on the drinks menu as well, everything from cocktails to locally brewed beer. The food arrived very quickly and was delicious just like lunch. We didn't think it was too expensive either, and so we had pudding, which was also yummy.
As we were sitting the restaurant turned into a rather busy bar, so we hung around for a couple more cocktails...and then staggered home!
All in all a great place to eat, drink and be merry!
