Description: The restaurant is open from 17.00 to 24.00 Wednesday to Sunday and unfortunately on Monday and Tuesday.
General
The restaurant is housed in the old part of Delft, the Koornmarkt. It is easy to find and parking is usually at the door, but on a busy day you may have to park in one of the garages that are approximately 5 minutes walking distance (Phoenix Garage or Zuidpoortgarage). In the summer you can either go inside or outside. Unfortunately there is no outside seating during the winter. The main dining room is on the ground floor, the restaurant is also accessible for disabled people.
At arrival there is a member of the staff waiting to take your coat and bag. These are then hung in the back of the restaurant, where you can also feel free to leave your wallet. At the front is the dining room, but if you walk back there is also a kind of inner garden and a ballroom (for groups up to 32 people).
In the back are the toilets. There are two for women and two for men. They are clean and there are small towels instead of paper to dry your hands.
The tables are quite far apart and in a way that you could easily stand up and not bump into the person behind you. The decoration on the walls is something you can look at for hours. It is very hard to describe, but there are such huge bottles of champagne, and paintings by various artists and a real parrot! The parrot has never made a sound while I was there and just sit quietly in his cage, something fun for the kids to watch. Smoking is not allowed here.
Staff
The staff is really for me the biggest advantage of this restaurant. They are just very friendly and really give you that ‘home’ feeling when you are there. They are not right in your face, but they are there when you need them. They like to help you with ordering and explain the menu well but also give advice on what kind of wine to get with your main course. Very helpful and friendly.
The food
For me the food is really stunning. I had crepes with Quorn, mushrooms and cream sauce. The appetizers are varied, but I love eating the stuffed olives / mini bell peppers with a small salad.
They have delicious desserts like raspberry tiramisu. Which is delicious. The food is presented neatly on a plate and is well cooked.
Price
The price is reasonable. There are many nice restaurants in Delft, but the Klikspaan you still have a slightly better quality than the rest, so the price is also slightly higher. A 3-course meal will cost you around 30 euro’s, so really not bad. You can pay with cash, debit or credit cards.
Conclusion
The Klikspaan is highly recommended. On Friday or Saturday it might be smart to make a reservation because it can be full!
