Description: When staying in a harbour town in Spain, it is only right that you should have some fish at some point, which is how we ended up at the Restaurante Kuma on our recent visit to Santa Eulalia. The restaurant was nice and the food was good and overall I would recommend it.
The restaurant is right on the harbour which makes for wonderful views across the harbour whilst you are eating. There are tables inside and outside of the restaurant although i'd recommend eating outside to get the full atmosphere. The weather is almost always lovely enough to eat outside. I'd have thought that you would pay a premium for the fact that it is on the harbour, but that didn't seem to be the case - we paid 65 euros for three courses (for two of us) and that included a couple of beers, a bottle of wine and a tip, which we thought was exceptional value for money.
The food was good. I had prawn cocktail to start, which was advertised as a big portion and indeed it was. The marie rose sauce was served on the side which was odd, but was delicious. My husband had prawns pil pil which was also delicious and was a very generous sized portion. We had to order extra bread to soak up all the garlic and chili infused oil that it was served in. For main course I had salmon and prawn linguine which was served in a creamy sauce and was packed full of flavour. I absolutely loved it, to the point that I would have to say that it was the best dish I ate in the whole holiday. My husband had grilled squid, which was a huge portion and he enjoyed it, although he said he thought it was a little bit overcooked.
The service was good, but a little slow. To be honest, it wasn’t the poor girls who were working’s fault – they certainly earned their money. The problem was that there were only two of them and the restaurant was completely full. I can’t help but think that they should have employed more staff to cope with the demand. There were long gaps between courses and it took absolutely ages to get the bill at the end. It was a shame really because everything else had been so good.
Overall I would recommend the restaurant because the food was good and the meal was excellent value for money. I think the only thing that they need to work on is the staffing levels.
