Description: Seagar's is located inside the Hilton Hotel adjacent to the King Street Metro Station in Alexandria, VA. We were staying next door at the Wyndham timeshare so this was a convenient dine-in night. I was also able to pick up a $25 gift certificate from Restaurant.com during a recent 80% off promo, making the purchase just $2 to save $25 in their lounge. Seagar's also has a full service restaurant, but the menu of sandwiches and bar food was plenty for us, so this option through Restaurant.com was perfect.
We were immediately greeted by our friendly server Amy. David ordered a cocktail, while I opted for diet coke. We should have been prepared for hotel bar pricing on the adult beverage, but had sorta forgotten where we were. Even with "happy hour" pricing, his rail drink was $6.95. My 12 oz. glass of fountain diet coke was $3.00 - ouch!
I ordered the crab cake open face sandwich, while David selected the bacon cheeseburger. Both were served with yummy steak fries. The sandwiches were good and served hot. Regarding the crab cake, I ordered mine with the sauces on the side just to make sure that there wasn't anything too spicy or flavor inhibiting on my sandwich. I was glad I did that as their tartar sauce had a very large dose of Old Bay seasoning, which would have overpowered the crab.
In order to get to the required $35 meal expense (excluding cocktails), we had to order dessert. We were both full from our sandwiches, but chose a couple of desserts "to go" back to the timeshare. The carrot cake was served "bundt style" with the cream cheese icing in the middle . . . quite unique. We also got a piece of their holiday chocolate mint cake, which was dinky and not very flavorful.
If you are planning to dine at Seagar's in the restaurant, they offer a "buy one entree, get a second at half off" with their parking lot cards found in the parking deck so be sure to pick up one of those.
For those staying at the Wyndham Old Town Alexandria, like we were, Seagar's is the room service provider available to you. Prices in the resort's room service menu seemed high ($10 for pancakes w/bacon) especially when you consider a $3/person fee plus 18% service charge. I am also a bit skeptical on their ability to keep the food hot for deliver over at the timeshare resort.
Our dining needs were met, however, and we would recommend Seagar's.
