We stayed with a local family... which was fairly primitive. the island is completly self suffcient and more or less vegetarian.. only give veggie food to the tourists, which is just as well given that they have no fridges!! the family cooked for us.. chips, egg and tomato for lunch, chips rice and tomato for dinner and chips & hash browns for brekkie!!
We were fortunate as it happened to be the islands 'birthday' so there was a huge fiesta in the main square which involved people in traditional costumes (which they all wear all the time anyway!) dancing and playing music.. it was great to watch!
