Botanical garden, Belvedere
The botanical garden is run by the University in Vienna, and runs parallel to the palace garden in Belvedere. There are 3 entrances to the botanical garden, you can walk in by the upper palace and out again by the lower palace.
• Main entrance Mechelgasse/Praetoriusgasse
• Oberes Belvedere/Alpengarten
• Jacquintor
Entrance is free, and the gates are open from 10 AM to 16 AM or 18 AM, depending on the time of the year.
So, what is there see? Obviously a lot of big trees from all around the world. There’s bee-hives, different kind of habitates for plants, many different kinds of birds and if you are really at loss at what to bring your parents as a present, they sell plants
It is usually not a lot of tourists there, so if you want to have some peace and quiet after having pushed through the tourists in the palaces and art exhibitions, the botanical garden is a good place to go.
