The castle was built on a hill adjacent to the Mount Hohschtayn, which has a very Lienz.
The name of the castle was named after the stone bridge (German Bruecke), which connected the castle with the outside world and the Middle Ages was the most important building. The main tower and thick walls of the castle still remain and are visible from afar. The inner courtyard has a regular rectangular shape and is crowned by a gateway with a semicircular arch. Previously led them up a narrow staircase, which, like most of the buildings, up to now has not been preserved. From the old castle remained only scattered pieces. Pewter wreath surrounds the outer castle wall, and the main tower of the Romanesque neighbors encircling wall, which has two rotundas. At the castle there is also two-story Romanesque chapel with frescoes by Simone Taystena (XIII-XV century). Since 1943 it houses the museum of the city Lienz - Museum of art and traditions of East Tyrol. In its 40 rooms are set collection of paintings. The museum has archaeological department, where the exhibits, which were found during excavations Aguntuma. They tell the story of East Tyrol, with the primitive period.
In addition to the permanent exhibitions at the museum each year hosts various exhibitions devoted to culture, history and nature of East Tyrol. Visiting hours: Castle open to the public from mid-May to late October, a visit to the 5.14 to 11.09 - every day from 10.00 to 18.00, from 12.09 to 26.10 - from Thursday to Sunday from 10 to 16.
