The Courtyard 7 hotel is right in the heart of the Hutongs (narrow alleyways) right in the heart of Beijing yet removed from the hustle and bustle. As the name suggests this is a traditional courtyard style hotel. 300 years old with just 20 rooms and at $49-$69 a room you can't beat the price.
I always like to try new places this will be a certain repeat next time Im back in Beijing. I loved it!
The staff were so friendly and helpful (AA had lost our travel companions bags and the staff helped them in trying to track them down) There were also two hotels dogs (Siberian huskies) on the grounds which were super cute and playful
The location is hard to beat. In the heart of the Hutongs there are many small (ie cheap) restaurants and bars all within stumbing distance. The area was very safe to walk around at all times of the day and night however, Taxis did have a hard time finding the area so be sure to write it down and the phone number too so they can call if they need to!
The Forbidden city and drum bell tower is a further walk (about 25minutes) from here but it was so nice staying in a traditional hotel rather than the glitz and glam of the other city hotels.
Rooms were gorgeous with rich colours and huge canopied beds, robes and books on the surrounding area This felt more like a bed and breakfast, and on that subject the buffet breakfasts were amazing too with a mix of traditional and western foods to choose from.
